attachment figure

The year got off to quite a start, figuratively speaking. And I mean figurative in a literal way, if that’s not too confusing. I had never attempted to paint the human form; somehow it always seemed off limits to me. I had never been trained. I didn’t draw. Figurative work seemed like something best left to the professionals…like toaster repair or drywalling. But something got into me in january 08. I have this great, growing collection of old, found photographs of women and dogs and one of them – I am not sure who, the woman or the dog – was calling out to me from the pile and wouldn’t stop until I had finished “attachment figure”.
